SAT II
SAT Subject Tests are 20 standardized tests given on individual subjects. Students typically choose which tests to take depending on college entrance requirements for the schools to which they are planning to apply. Every test is now a one-hour timed test. The Ivy Key program is designed to teach students core subject concepts and test-taking strategies. Students learn The Ivy Key’s patented methods for maximizing their score on SAT subject tests.

The Test

A student may take up to three SAT Subject Tests on any given date. Most SAT subject tests are offered on the same day as the regular SAT. The language tests with listening are generally available only once per year, in November. A handful of the most competitive schools, such as Harvard University and Princeton University, still require three Subject tests in addition to the three sections of the SAT. Also, SAT Subject Test scores are often used to place students into courses during college.

Subjects include:

  • English literature
  • US history
  • World history
  • Math level 1 and level 2
  • Biology E/M
  • Chemistry
  • Physics
  • Languages: Chinese*, French*, German*, Modern Hebrew, Italian, Japanese*, Korean*, Latin, Spanish

* = includes a listening option. Of course, the content of the SAT subject tests varies by subject.
